Scolytine beetles are a group of coleopterans of high phytosanitary importance due to their association with symbiotic fungi and their ability to colonize weakened plant tissues. In avocado orchards, they represent an increasing risk because of their potential role as vectors of phytopathogenic fungi and the rise in outbreaks associated with water stress, limited agronomic management, and favorable environmental conditions. This study evaluated the efficiency of copaene, quercivorol, and 96% ethyl alcohol, as well as their mixtures, for capturing scolytine beetles in Persea americana Mill. orchards in three avocado-producing areas of Michoacán, Mexico: Zoromútaro (Tancítaro), Ejido Acahuato (Apatzingán), and Los Limones (Los Reyes). A randomized block design was implemented using a trapping system with seven treatments and monthly samplings over a twelve-month period. Collected individuals were identified using taxonomic keys and reference material. A total of 8,529 individuals were collected, belonging to three subfamilies, 23 genera, and 40 species. The most effective treatment was 96% ethyl alcohol + quercivorol (3,083 individuals), followed by 96% ethyl alcohol + copaene + quercivorol (1,476 individuals). The dominant species was Xylosandrus curtulus. These results support the use of mixtures containing ethyl alcohol and quercivorol to improve surveillance and early detection of scolytine beetles in Michoacán.
