Abstract

In this study the structure and vegetation composition of semievergreen tropical forest at Jalisco Coast were examined. Vegetation composition and structure were assessed by sampling vegetation in 3 plots of 50 × 50 m each. All trees with diameter (d1.3m) > 7.5 cm were counted, diameter and height  were recorded and abundance, dominance, frequency and importance value index (IVI) were calculated. There were a total 38 species, distributed in 37 genus and 19 families. Fabaceae was the hightest specie family with nineteen. Moraceae, Malvaceae and Euphorbiaceae were the most important families according with the IVI per family. The most common species in the community were Luehea speciosa, Ficus cotinifolia, Hura polyandra and Brosimum alicastrum.
