Abstract

During the last centuries, species of the Ganoderma lucidum complexhave been used in traditional Chinese medicine. "Lingzhi" has been used in Asia by their anticarcinogenic, immunomodulatory, antiviral and antibacterial properties. Taking into account a mycelium isolated from a live culture labeled as cepa G. sichuanense Gc73, the aim of this study is to determine the Minimum Inhibitory Concentrations (CIM) at which the culture of G. sichuanense cepa Gc73 broth supplemented with thiamine inhibits different strains of bacteria, both susceptible and resistant to streptomycin. Said culture broth after being centrifuged, filtered through a 0.22 µm pore membrane or separated by weight of <3,000 Daltons, showed synergy with PAs against different strains of bacteria. The results show an antibacterial effect against Bacillus subtilis ATCC (ATCC; Manassas, VA, USA) 6633, Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538 and Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 51811, Enterococcus faecalis ATCC 29212 and Micrococcus luteus ATCC 9341. The strains were tested. in concentrations of 2.5 to 50 µl of the culture broth supplemented with thiamin for each ml of Muller Hinton broth. We included six strains of Salmonella spp., previously isolated from raw meat, and the electrophoresis technique was used to determine the presence of antimicrobial peptides. The results showed that these peptides can only be identified in fresh samples of the extract.
